About the Founder
Resolute Purpose was founded by James Johnston, a trusted fundraising and engagement leader with experience across higher education, local government and charity sectors.
James sees his purpose as convening the right people around the big issues and designing place-based solutions and knowledge sharing. He is committed to bringing the quietest voices to the table and he believes places can thrive if they unlock the social good capital around them.

Through his career, James has led growth in thriving alumni programmes and fundraising campaigns at some of the UK's top universities: working globally to connect funders with opportunities that have made a big impact on individuals, academic research and place-based projects. He's worked extensively with sector leaders to deliver purpose-driven collaborations and funding growth. And these conversations revealed something to him about the world - that humans wish to give back, work in partnership to solve systemic problems but there is more to do to help individuals and organisations to make a difference here.
Our Place
Place really matters: the identity, potential, and partnerships unique to every region are central to how we deliver social good together. There's no one organisation who can deliver change alone.
Resolute Purpose is proudly based in (and around) the historic City of York. Working hybrid and often to be found in Patch, the innovative co-working space for startups and creatives based at the Bonding Warehouse, York.
Whist our base is Yorkshire, in the North of England, we are happy to pop up anywhere you need us if our purpose resonates with you and you really want to do some good work alongside us.
'We' is reference to a collective of freelancers who we can access to create better content and develop place-based solutions. It takes a village of creative and technical types from different sectors and backgrounds to shift the silo and deliver change.
